I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Philosophy and Humanities at the University of Texas at Arlington, where I am also the Co-Director of the Medical Humanities and Bioethics Program. My current research is predominantly in medical ethics, with a focus on two areas: (1) organ donation and transplantation; and (2) the continuing use of unclaimed bodies in medical teaching and research. Previously I have worked extensively on topics in the philosophy of mind and animal cognition.

I am the Founder and Director of Make Philosophy, an open pedagogy project that designs interactive teaching tools for philosophy and makes them available for free to educators around the world.

When I’m not working, I like to look at birds and solve puzzles. I am also a Quaker.
